NIPIGON – Crime – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Nipigon Detachment stopped an eastbound Jeep Grand Cherokee on Hwy 17 in Corrigal Township for speeding, on August 3rd at 21:43EDT. The driver of the vehicle was found to be in breach of conditions of bail and therefore was subsequently arrested.
Further investigation and search of the vehicle revealed nearly $27,000 in cash and 20 grams of “crack” cocaine hidden in the vehicle.
30 year old Vernie Junior FERRIGON of Saskatoon Saskatchewan has been charged with:
- 1x Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act,
- 1x Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code,
- 2x Fail to Comply with a Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code.
- Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
35 year old Gregory Carlyle McIntosh of Regina Saskatchewan has been charged with:
- 1x Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- 1x Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code.
Both men have been held in custody at the Thunder Bay District Jail pending a Show Cause court appearance.
