Italian Culture Celebration in Thunder Bay!

THUNDER BAY – The Festa Italiana attracts over 20,000 people over two days. The people enjoy Italian food, music, fellowship, and it is all for a good cause. It is the biggest fundraiser for the Italian Society of Port Arthur. Behind the scenes, the work that goes into the Festa Italiana is massive. It is a volunteer effort that starts almost as soon as the previous year’s Festa is over.

The fun of the day is the music and the food. The line-up for Elephant Ears is the longest at Festa Italiana. The booth run by the Italian Cultural Centre’ Sports Chairman Sam Quaresima and his smiling team has been busy all day, and night. Last night despite making lots of the dough for the treats, they actually ran out!

The work starts weeks before Festa! The Italian Cultural Centre is on of the top places in Thunder Bay for weddings, social functions and meetings.

Thunder Bay Italians invite people from across Canada and the United States to its annual Festa Italiana. Every year tourists and  American Italians from as far away as New York,  Chicago, Milwaukee, Los Angeles, and Texas make the annual visit to one of the friendliest Feta’s in all of North America. Many Canadian tourist from Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver travel thousand plus miles to visit their family and friends at the Festa.

Dance up a Storm

This young at heart couple have danced up a storm, out on the Dance Floor at Festa Italiana. Dancing keeps you young at heart, and is good for the heart!
