World’s First Live Stream for Festa Italiana

Thunder Bay-  The Italian Society of Port Arthur opened Festa Italiana 2013 today. For the very first time will be filmed live in real time and broadcast over the Internet with the world’s first live streaming of Festa Italiana 2013. Live Streaming the event will connect Italians from Thunder Bay with their family and friends in Italy, America, Australia, and other Italians from around the world.

The opening ceremonies MC was Pasquale Coccimiglio, who introduced all the dignitaries including Maria LaChemia, Vice Counsel of the Italian Embassy, Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs, City Councillor Larry Hebert, Members of the Canadian Parliament MP Bruce Hyer and MP John Rafferty, Italian member of the Ontario Government MPP Bill Mauro, and Minister of Northern Affairs MPP Michael Gravelle. Joining in as well were Tony Tassone President of Juventus Soccer Club, Alpini Choir, Rita Romeo, The Gran Sasso Club, and  Carlo Benicasa

This year’s Italian Festa was official blessed by Father Luigi of St. Anthony’s Church, and opened with a speech by Benny Melchiorre followed by the singing of both the Canadian National Anthem “Oh Canada” and the Italian National Anthem. The first song of the festa was the very popular Folklore song from the Calabria south of Italy called “Calabriasella Mia.”

This popular Italian cultural event which is one of the largest cultural festivals in Northern Ontario, is celebrating its 23rd consecutive Festa Italiana with over 25,000 visitors attending from all over Canada and the United States.

Italian Cultural Centre President Benny Melchiorre said that “The Italians of Thunder Bay have always been pioneers and innovator since they came to Canada. Like Marco Polo, Italians around the world have always been advancing forward and with the growth of the Internet this new live streaming technology we can connect with our families and friends all over the world and share our rich Italian culture”.

Local business leader and former city councillor Frank Pullia, who is from Lamezia, Calabria, will be on camera interviewing many of the Italians to capture their stories of immigration and their love of everything Italian.

“This live streaming over the Internet is for the youth who are the future of our Italian society” said Pullia. “They are all connected to the Internet these days using their iPhones, mobiles & smart phones”.

Live Stream, FaceBook , Google & You Tube

Italians globally already started using Facebook, Google, YouTube, Twitter so it seemed a natural progression to be the first Festa Italiana  in the world to beam the festivities live over the internet to fellow Italians around the world.

“The only thing we cannot live stream is the good Italian food.” stated Pullia.  “Every year, Festa Italiana just gets better & better. It is a big family reunion.” On Festa weekend everybody’s Italian”

The Festa Italiana live stream weekend celebration is a joint collaboration between the Italian Society of Thunder Bay with the very popular online news site NetNewsLedger.com. and the Business Solutions Group a company that specializes in Live Streaming and digital solutions for businesses that want to expand into the digital revolution.

Festa Italiana starts Sunday August 4th at 12:00 pm and goes until Monday night at 11:00 pm. There will be lots of homemade Italian food, dancing, wine, beer gardens, and every night there are fireworks immediately after the famous Italian band Pino Gioia. The Festa will also have a talent show, fashion show, and the wildly popular Spaghetti and watermelon eating contest.
