THUNDER BAY – The Blues Festival is going on full steam tonight. Rain in Thunder Bay has not dampened the enthusiasm for the music. However across parts of Thunder Bay heavy rain has made some streets quite wet and in some cases has a lot of water flowing down them.
Rain can get lost anytime soon!
An area of thunderstorms moving in from Northeast Minnesota will affect the district this evening, including the Lakehead at Thunder Bay. Downpours are likely in many of the thunderstorms, with local rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm expected. There is some potential For very heavy downpours giving local rainfall amounts of 25 to possibly 50 mm in some of the stronger thunderstorms.
Frequent lightning is also possible.
Motorists should be prepared for sudden very low visibility in very heavy downpours and ponding of water on poorly drained sections of highways.
The public is advised to monitor future forecasts and warnings as warnings may be required or extended.
