THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay Police are looking to identify a male responsible for a robbery at the Mac’s Convenience Store located at 745 Simpson Street on July 02, 2013.
Mac’s Robbery
At 2:20AMEDT, a male entered the store and threatened the employee with a needle. The accused left the store with some money. The Macs employee was not injured in the incident.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male approximately 25 years of age. He is 5’11” tall, 180 lbs with a medium to slim build. He has black short spiked hair with a black mustache and goatee. He has a cut above his right eye with a white square band aid on it and was wearing beige shorts and a black t-shirt with a white design on the front.
The male was last seen running southbound on McKenzie Street.

Arrests Made in Mac’s Robberies
Police also report that they have made some arrests in Mac’s Store Robberies.
The first robbery occurred on June 27th at 2:18 a.m. at the Mac’s Convenience Store on Oliver Road. The second robbery occurred on the same date at 7:30 a.m. outside the ATM located at the Superior Credit Union on South Syndicate Avenue.
Patrol officers observed the suspect walking southbound on May Street at George Street at 10:00 a.m. on Friday morning and took him into custody with out incident. A search of the male incident to the arrest revealed a concealed knife in his possession. It is alleged that the same male was also involved in a theft a the Canadian Tire Store on June 26th, 2013.
Kevin Yates, 37 years old, has been charged with:
– Robbery with Violence x 2
– Carrying a Concealed Weapon
– Theft Under $5,000.00
Yates made a court appearance over the weekend and was been remanded to the District Jail.
