TERRACE BAY – Terrace Bay officially launched its free WIFI hotspot in the middle of its award winning downtown. The project has been one year in development and utilizes cutting edge technology provided by partner tbaytel to cover the main business sector of the Municipality.
This builds on the $3 million investment by Terrace Bay and its government partners to revitalize the area.
CAO Carmelo Notarbartolo says “We are very pro-business in Terrace Bay and anything we can do to support our business community and attract more people will be considered. We could not have done this project without the support of tbaytel and are thankful for their commitment to our region.”
The hotspot is heavily advertised through signage on the highway, the downtown, and the Terrace Bay Municipal tourism page. Its intent is to cater to the information needs of travellers and encourage them to stop in the downtown to surf the Internet and hopefully afterwards shop in the local stores.
Local shop owner Lorraine Prill from the popular Hummingbird Haus says “We really appreciate the hard work of the Municipality and have seen a significant increase in visitors the past few years due to their efforts.”
