VALLEYVIEW – On December 31st, 2012 Clinton Todd Ireland, 37 years old of Grande Prairie was charged with possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking. Cst Tuck of the Valleyview RCMP stopped Ireland’s vehicle at a vehicle check stop at 50th Avenue and Highway Street in Valleyview. Ireland was the only occupant of the vehicle. A search was conducted on the vehicle and 99 grams (3.53 ounces) of marihuana and $1125.00 in cash was seized. The Valleyview RCMP Detachment, the Town of Valleyview, M.D. of Greenview and Sturgeon Lake First Nation are working together to reduce the harms illegal drugs cause. Search warrants to residences and vehicle stops have resulted in Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Criminal Code and Provincial Statute charges against 9 persons.

On January 29th, 2013 Rubin Douglas Lyle, 32 years old of Grande Prairie was charged with possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking. Cst Gillis of the Valleyview RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 43 just South of Valleyview. Lyle was the only occupant of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in one pound (16 ounces) of marihuana seized.

On February 23 2013 Duane Harvey Kiyawasew, 56 years old, of Sturgeon Lake was charged with possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking. RCMP executed a search warrant at House 28 Sturgeon Lake which is connected to the Timber Wolf Service Station. RCMP seized a small quantity of marihuana and Hash. Kiyawasew was placed on several conditions, one of which was to abstain from the possession of illicit drugs. On April 17 2013 RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Kiywasew’s vehicle at 50 Ave near highway 43. RCMP seized a small quantity of marihuana from Kiyawasew vehicle. Kiyawasew was charged for failing to comply with his conditions as well as possession of marihuana.

On April 8 2013 Clarence Frank Badger, 60 years old of Sturgeon Lake was charged with possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking. The Valleyview RCMP executed a search warrant on House 72 Sturgeon Lake. RCMP seized a small quantity of marihuana and other evidence from the residence.

On April 8 2013 Marcia Geraldine Badger, 40 years old of Sturgeon Lake, was charged with possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking. The Valleyview RCMP executed a search warrant on House 147 Sturgeon Lake. A search resulted in a small quantity of marihuana and other evidence from the residence,

On May 25 2013, Steven Soucey, 24 years old of Valleyview was charged with possession of ecstasy, cocaine and Marihuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and several provincial offences. Cst. Lazorko of the Valleyview RCMP conducted a vehicle stop on 50 Avenue in Valleyview. Soucey was the only occupant of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in 715 ecstasy pills, 42.8 grams of cocaine, 55 grams of marihuana and $2,043,00 in cash. The total value of the drugs is approximately $20,000. When Soucey was arrested he was in possession of a prohibited weapon – Brass Knuckles.

On June 4 2013 Jordon Brent Cooper and Terri-Ann Melissa Mayne both 22 years old, both of Sturgeon Lake were charged with possession of marihuana. Cst Lazorko conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Valleyview.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and over 4 ounces of marihuana was seized along with a canister of bear spray.

On June 7 2013 Blake George Desmond McLean, 36 years old and Tanya Rose Mustus 28 years old, both of Sturgeon Lake were charged with Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. The Valleyview RCMP executed a search warrant on House 28 Sturgeon Lake. RCMP seized 148.2 grams (5.29 ounces) of cocaine, $6895.00 cash and other evidence. The total value of the drugs and money is approximately $19,000.

The above accused’s have been released from police custody and the matters are before the courts. The Valleyview RCMP will continue to work with the communities it serves to provide safe homes and safe communities.
