THUNDER BAY – A Walk for Unity has travelled from Regina to Thunder Bay on their way to Ottawa. The Walkers are planning to arrive in Ottawa on June 21st for National Aboriginal Day.

The Walkers are headed to Ottawa to send a message to the government and to Prime Minister Stephen Harper that it is time for real action on the issues facing First Nations people.

The walkers are on their walk to share that there must be more unity on the environment, and on lands and resources.

The goal is that protecting Mother Earth, and taking care of each other is a critical responsibility that crosses all lines of race or colour.

The Walkers assert that there is a great divide in Canada. Canada is so rich, but in many places the Aboriginal communities are trapped in a cycle of poverty. By raising awareness, building unity, and making more and more people aware of the issues facing the young people, the group hopes to bring people of all races together.
