THUNDER BAY – Crime – Thunder Bay Police have made a quick arrest in a stabbing that happened at The Rotary Shelter House. Police have a male in custody for an assault that occurred just after 23:00EDT on Wednesday, May 15th.
Police were called to the Shelter House on George Street to investigate a stabbing that had occurred. The 27 year old male victim reported that he was approached by three males outside and chased into the Shelter House. He was stabbed inside the vestibule of the facility. Paramedics tended to the victim on site and was not required to be taken to the hospital.
Police made quick work to arrest Stabbing Suspect
Police located a 21 year old male in the City Hall area who is alleged to be responsible for the stabbing. The suspect was arrested without incident and escorted the Balmoral Police Station. He has been charged with Assault With A Weapon and made a court appearance later today.
Over the past twenty-four hours, police were called to handly twenty ‘Quality of Life’ calls including 16 liquor related offences. There were two sexual assaults reported, and five assaults.
Heading into the long weekend, it is likely police officers might be hoping there is a strike at the LCBO. It might cut down on some of the calls they are forced to handle.
