THUNDER BAY – An army of street sweepers is scrubbing and cleaning Thunder Bay. The crews are out on May Street near the Royal Edward Arms this morning cleaning up a winter’s worth of sand, litter and mess.

The clean up job follows more signs of spring and soon summer. Over the weekend the BIA in the south core finally took down Christmas Decorations.

Business owners along with volunteers in the downtown South Core are starting to share plans to keep the area clean. There have been concerns raised by several business owners over the perceived safety in the area.

Thunder Bay Police are on foot patrol during the day, and are reportedly increasing their presence in the evening. Informed sources tell NetNewsLedger that the Ontario Liquor and Gaming Commission is also stepping up their actions.

Over the weekend across Thunder Bay Police were called out to well over 100 calls for service for alcohol related calls.

A cleaner and neater city is an important part of making sure our city continues to prosper.
