THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – The Mac’s Convenience Store at 745 Simpson Street was robbed Thursday night. Thunder Bay Police are investigating the robbery which occurred at 11:43 p.m. on Thursday evening.
Police report, “A lone male entered the store armed with a knife and demanded money and cigarettes. The male had his face covered and made off with money and cigarettes. Nobody was injured in the incident”.
Winter weather kept most criminal activity at bay last night. There were 11 traffic accidents over the past twenty four hours.
However, this morning, Thunder Bay Police state, “There have only been two motor vehicle collisions reported to the T.B.P.S. since midnight. Let’s keep the collision rate down today! Please use extra caution at intersections. The snow, ice and wind combination is making driving very tricky”.
City of Thunder Bay crews are working to clear streets, but so far there is not a lot of salt or sand being put down. Walking on sidewalks, even in the downtown cores is going to be difficult too. Sidewalks, in the downtown Fort William Business District have not been cleared, except at City Hall.
Roadways are going to stay slippery.
Keeping safe today and if possible staying home will keep the workload for Police Officers down, and let them respond faster to the important calls they need to do.
