Sault Ste Marie PoliceSAULT STE MARIE –  Sault Ste Marie Police report that at approximately 0600 a.m. on March 31st, the Sault Area Hospital reported the theft from sometime overnight of an ATM machine from the lower lobby near the Tim Horton’s area.  Initial surveillance footage shows what appears to be 2 adult males removing the ATM to a light coloured ‘SUV’ type vehicle.  The machine was subsequently recovered at the north end of People’s Road just after 10 a.m. this morning.  The ATM machine, the recovery location and additional video surveillance from the hospital are being processed for evidence.  Any monies stolen from the machine remain unconfirmed by the owner pending transaction history review.   

 The investigation is continuing.

Sault Ste Marie – Crime Reporting

On March 31st, 2013 at 3:45 pm Patrol Officers arrested and charged Armandine Morissette, age 53 of 391 Bush St. with Impaired Driving and Driving over .08. Officers learned that the accused had been driving her car on Wellington St. W. when she bumped into another car. The driver of this other vehicle believed that Morissette was under the influence of alcohol contacted the police. With the help of the concerned citizen Patrol Officers located the offending vehicle and driver on Boydell St. She will now appear in court on May 6th.

Also on March 31st, a break and enter was reported at the Air Dale Flying Service location on River Road.  The entry was gained between 7 a.m. on 29 March 2013 and the morning of the 31 March 2013.  A building appeared to have been rammed with a vehicle.  Nine 6 HP boat motors and one 9 HP boat motor as well as a tool box have been reported stolen.  Paint and damage left at the scene suggests that the vehicle used to breach the building may have been a truck that might have had a red snowplow attachment on it.
