THUNDER BAY – Health – Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre – Report from Susan Fraser Board Chair.
Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre
Recently at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre (TBRHSC), we have been challenged with overcapacity to a degree never seen before which is neither acceptable nor sustainable.
I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the staff, healthcare professionals and volunteers at TBRHSC who worked diligently to deliver quality care to patients and families throughout this difficult and demanding situation. I could not be more proud of our team.
I extend my appreciation to those community partners in healthcare who worked to relieve some of the pressure at TBRHSC. We continue to work together to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time by the right provider.
Situation Improving
In recent days, the situation has improved; however, a long term solution is needed. It is critical that when TBRHSC goes into a surge situation, that there is a similar collective response from our community partners. We all serve the same patient.
I had the privilege of attending the Walk the Talk Awards reception on January 17th. This annual event recognizes the dedication of the hundreds of TBRHSC volunteers, healthcare professionals and staff who demonstrate their commitment to excellent patient and family centered care, to their team and the organization. I was touched by the stories of these champions, and am grateful to them all.
We are healthy together.
Respectfully,
Susan Fraser, Chair
Board of Directors
