THUNDER BAY – Michael Gravelle will hold down a seat in cabinet in Premier Kathleen Wynne’s government. Natural Resources Minister Michael Gravelle will be the Minister of Northern Development and Mines.

Gravelle has held the position of Northern Development and Mines before. The Minister’s current health concerns have not impacted the ever positive Gravelle from holding down his duties and continuing to work.
Many of the moves in forming cabinet for Wynne are designed to fix problems left to the incoming Premier who will be sworn in later today.
Charles Sousa will be the provincial finance minister. This move came, only after Wynne’s major leadership contender Sandra Pupatello reportedly turned down the offer to return to politics.
Wynne, faces strong opposition from Ontario teachers. The incoming premier has brought in Liz Sandals to take on the Education portfolio. The move is likely to try to calm relations with the teachers.
The Aboriginal Affairs portfolio has been a priority according to Premier Wynne. Backbench MPP David Zimmer fromWillowdale has been asked to run the department. Zimmer will likely have his work cut out for him, as First Nations across the province are stepping up their activism and are facing growing grassroots action from Idle No More.
