THUNDER BAY – On Boxing Day, a meal is served at Shelter House in the downtown Fort William Business District. Singer Tina Reed from Tea Time Drive shares, “This is just our second Boxing Day event volunteering at Shelter House. Our first time out, the group was pretty excited and then a bit nervous when we realized the incredible number of people that would be coming for dinner”.
“I am sure the whole group tonight walked away this evening feeling both; very thankful and very humbled,” continued Reed. “I encourage anyone thinking about volunteering at Shelter House to just call them. There are so many ways to help”.
There is the opportunity to help across Thunder Bay, making a difference in the lives of many people.
Tina adds, “Have an extra hour some afternoon; how about bagging a few sandwiches, or popping in to help prep for dinner? Shelter House really makes it easy to volunteer, they are incredibly organized, helpful, and patient”.
One of the keys in helping is that the need is year round, and not just at Christmas time.
