Border Cats BaseballTHUNDER BAY – Play Ball!! Recent weather in Thunder Bay might feel more like spring. The Thunder Bay Border Cats have shared their 2013 Baseball schedule. 

The Thunder Bay Border Cats will kick off their 11th season in the Northwoods League on Wednesday, May 29th. The Cats will start the season with aa three game road trip beginning in Willmar, MN against the Stingers. 

The Cats will play two games in Willmar and one in St. Cloud against the Rox before returning to Thunder Bay for their home opener on Saturday, June 1st, against Willmar at 6:05pm at Subway Field

The Cats first home stand will consist of a four game opener. There will be two games against the Stingers (June 1st and 2nd) and a pair of games against the Mankato MoonDogs (June 3rd and 4th). 

The Cats conclude the 70-game schedule with their longest homestand of the season consisting of eight games from August 4th-11th.  The final home game is Sunday, August 11th, against the Alexandria Beetles.     

The Cats will again host a pair of school day games this season on June 4th versus Mankato and June 13th versus St. Cloud, both starting at 11:05am.  The Cats play their traditional Canada Day game on Monday, July 1st, against Alexandria at 1:35pm.  The Canada Day long weekend will also include post-game fireworks on Saturday, June 29th, against the Beetles with a special start time of 7:35pm.   

The 2013 NWL schedule features inter-divisional play for the first time since 2009.  Thunder Bay will play four games each against both the Eau Claire Express and the Wisconsin Woodchucks from the south division.  The Cats host Eau Claire for a two-game series August 6th and 7th and the Woodchucks for a pair of games August 8th and 9th at Subway Field.  Border Cats President/General Manager Brad Jorgenson is looking forward to new teams coming to Thunder Bay. “It’s going to be exciting for our fans to see competition from the south division and for our players to visit different ballparks as well,” Jorgenson stated in a media release.        

Home game starting times this season are Monday-Friday at 7:05pm, Saturday’s at 6:05pm and Sunday’s at 5:05pm, unless otherwise noted.
