THUNDER BAY – One of the beautiful things about Northern Ontario is the closeness we all enjoy to nature. Today, on Fort William Road by the Greyhound Depot, a local driver got a little closer to nature than he would have liked to get. Deer and vehicle accidents are a Thunder Bay reality.

As you can see from the damage to the Dodge truck, the impact with the deer is quite severe. The buck, a monster sized Mule Deer did not survive the impact.

It is that time of year, when the bucks are seriously looking for does. Their focus isn’t on traffic or much else. For drivers, now is the time to be a little more aware.

Fortunately, the driver was not injured in the accident. Thunder Bay is home to a wide variety of wildlife. The potential for drivers meeting deer, bear, moose or other wildlife is a risk for both driver and animal.
