THUNDER BAY – On Saturday, November 3rd at the Slovak Legion, our new Miss Thunder Bay was crowned. It was a long two day event filled with workshops and seminars to help the 16 amazing contestants prepare for their interviews and public speaking in front of the judging panel. The contestants also received modeling coaching from judge Stephanie Kiessig for their photo shoot with ilo photo. After all their hard work the contestants participated in a two night event, both nights featuring high energy opening dance numbers choreographed by Stephanie DePiero of BOUNCE Productions.

The first night consisted of optional contests including swimwear, outfit of choice, and talent.

The second night, the ladies competed in the evening wear presentation, then were downsized to a top 10, then finally a top 5 line of contestants. The top five had to answer the challenging question of why they would want to be the next Miss thunder bay in front of the judges and audience.

Then scores were tallied up to determine the winner.

All sixteen contestants received a title and tiara, and felt proud of what they had accomplished.

The top five contestants were Jessyca Rusyn winning 4th runner up, Emma Dubinsky winning 3rd runner up, Samantha Romeo winning 2nd runner up, Nerissa McRury as 1st runner up, and our winner, the new Miss Thunder Bay who will represent our city at the Miss North Ontario Regional Pageant this may in Sudbury, all expenses paid, is Jacqueline Marsh!

Pageant director Tegin Popowich believes that the three judges, Stephanie Kiessig, Chelsey Hardy of LUX Boutique, and Michael Filion had a difficult decision to make as at time the competition was neck and neck.

Several of the girls were picked to attend Michael Filion’s Miss Earth Ontario Pageant, and others will also move on to represent different areas of Thunder Bay at the Miss North Ontario Pageant.

Jacqueline will be able to represent the pageant, our city, and LUX Boutique at many special events in town. Jacqueline will participate in public speaking, photo shoots, runway modeling opportunities, and charitable events.

Registration for the Miss Thunder Bay Pageant 2013 will begin December 1st as many girls are already trying to enter. There will only be 20 contestant spots available so if interested apply early.

Congratulations again to all of the winners.
