CAT LAKE – On October 26 and 29, 2012, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit assisted by the NAPS North West Crime Unit, the Organized Crime Enforcement Unit, and the Ontario Provincial Police Sioux Lookout Detachment investigated and charged two people with regard to drug trafficking of Morphine and Marihuana from Thunder Bay to Cat Lake First Nation.
On October 26, 2012, police seized Morphine prescription pills and Marihuana with a northern street value of $14,395.00s.
Forty-five year-old Harry Wesley of Cat Lake First Nation was arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. He was released on conditions and will next appear in court in Sioux Lookout on December 11, 2012.
Also, on October 29, 2012, investigation led police to another seizure of Morphine prescription pills with a northern street value of one thousand eight-hundred ($1,800.00) dollars.
Twenty-five (25) year-old Star Kenequanash of Cat Lake First Nation was arrested and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with Possession of a Controlled Substance. The suspect was released on conditions and will next appear in court in Sioux Lookout on December 4, 2012.
Cat Lake First Nation is located approximately 550 km northwest of Thunder Bay.
