THUNDER BAY – Business – LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services have announced the appointment of Jeff Sumner to the position of Vice-President, Business Development and Chief Scientific Officer. Mr. Sumner will lead LifeLabs’ pursuit of growth and diversification in the rapidly evolving diagnostic laboratory sector. As LifeLabs’ Chief Scientific Officer, Mr. Sumner will also oversee LifeLabs’ research activities and advance LifeLabs’ already high standards for quality, while identifying new products and services to meet the needs of patients and healthcare providers.
Mr. Sumner has formidable experience and is an acknowledged leader in the community laboratory sector. In addition to holding a senior executive position in the community lab sector for over a decade, Mr. Sumner has also been responsible for leading hospital laboratories at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto and McKellar Hospital in Thunder Bay, as well as holding teaching appointments at the Thunder Bay Institute of Medical Technology and Lakehead University. Mr. Sumner is a chartered scientist, a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences in the UK and a registered Medical Laboratory Technologist.
