THUNDER BAY – The Northwestern Ontario Aviation Heritage Centre have announced that, beginning November 4, 2012 the facility will be open to the public on Sundays from 1-4PM. The centre is located at 430 Waterloo Street, right behind the DaVinci Centre in Thunder Bay.
Visitors to the centre will find displays of the history of Can-Car and the aviation activities of TCA and Air Canada at the Lakehead, as well as models of planes that were built and flown locally. They can also watch video clips of oral history interviews, check out features on military aircraft that have participated in events in our area and learn about Northwestern Ontario’s amazing history of bush planes. It’s worth a look!
Local aviation books and shirts are available for purchase and refreshments will be served. Board members and volunteers will be available to talk about the displays.
In addition to the Sunday openings, the Northwestern Ontario Aviation Heritage Centre will occasionally be open during the week when members are working on projects. A sign will indicate that the public can drop in. We also welcome anyone who would like a private tour to give us a call and we would be happy to accommodate them. Note that the centre is accessible.
