Thunder Bay Police respond to intentional overdose calls overnight

police car THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – Updated – October9 2012 – Thunder Bay Police report that a group of youth were taken to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Saturday night after what is being called an intentional overdose. Police responded to four calls to the north side of the city, in these incidents. Five young people were taken to hospital.

Authorities want to make parents and guardians aware of the situation as a key of helping to prevent such incidents.

At present it has not been confirmed as to why the individuals attempted to overdose. Health professionals and family members are now providing the support needed for these young people to deal with this situation. This type of incident is just a reminder as to the complexity and difficulties many youth face during the teen years.
