THUNDER BAY – Green Pumpkin? Are you willing to go green with your this year? “During Agriculture Week, just before Thanksgiving is a great time to appreciate how much food production contributes to the high quality of life we enjoy in Ontario. I encourage everyone to support our agri-food industry and buy more of the good things that grow in Ontario,” states Ted McMeekin the provincial Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Shopping for locally grown food helps the local economy and is more friendly to the environment.

Here in Thunder Bay, Belluz Farms is asking pumpkin loving citizens of Thunder Bay to buy a greener pumpkin this year, by buying local. Can the Canned Pumpkin! They are easy to cook, taste amazing and you know exactly what’s in your recipe!

Belluz Farms employs over 50 local students part-time every summer in addition to our full-time staff. Locally grown pumpkins also help save the environment – each load of pumpkins trucked in releases about 275 kg of carbon dioxide or 1 Litre of diesel fuel for every 5 pumpkins. Not every local farm operates the same, we encourage people and the media to always ask where and how their produce was grown.

Kids will come home rosy-cheeked from a day of fun with Wagon Rides, a 3 acre Corn Maze, Barn Animals & Pony Rides, The Great Pie Pumpkin Hunt and more!

The farm also has a great supply of different heirloom varieties of potatoes, winter squash, garlic, local apples, and other harvest veggies ready for a great
