ATTAWAPISKAT – On September 13, 2012, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit, Attawapiskat Detachment, Guns and Gangs, and Emergency Response Team executed a warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act in the community of Attawapiskat First Nation for the third time this year.
Police seized approximately twenty-six thousand ($26,000.00) dollars worth of Cannabis Marihuana, two (2) firearms, as well as various drug paraphernalia.
Forty-four (44) year-old Luke Koostachin from Attawapiskat First Nation has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Careless Storage of a Firearm, and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.
In addition, Thirty-two (32) year-old Jennifer Tomagitick also of Attawapiskat First Nation has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Careless Storage of a Firearm, and Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.
Koostachin and Tomagatick have both been released from custody on conditions and will next appear before the court on November 28, 2012, in Attawapiskat, Ontario.
