THUNDER BAY – Another $110,000 is into the fund for Flood Disaster Relief. The Disaster Relief Committee is pleased to announce a major donation today thanks to the Thunder Bay’s Got True Grit Golf Tournament, hosted by a local engineering firm, True Grit Consulting.
As players headed off to hit the links, Eric Zakrewski, President of True Grit announced that the golf tournament had raised an estimated $110,000 in net proceeds. “We knew that the Disaster Relief Committee was looking to increase revenue for the relief fund, and we wanted to demonstrate our commitment to our community and ask other businesses to join us to do what we could to help out,” said Zakrewski.
“We are thrilled with this donation and appreciate all the work and time dedicated to organizing the golf tournament,” said Wayne Fletcher, Chair of the Disaster Relief Committee. “It’s companies like True Grit Consulting, Whitewater Golf Course and Lakehead Motors as major sponsors that really make Thunder Bay a great community”.
Through the Ontario Disaster Relief Assistance Program, every dollar raised is matched up to 2:1, making the $110,000 raised equal $330,000.
