FireCon will be holding their annual fire conference in Thunder Bay

Firecon THUNDER BAY – FireCon will be holding their annual fire conference on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday September 13, 14, 15, 16, 2012, in Thunder Bay. 350 firefighters, delegates, trainers and suppliers coming in from across Northwestern Ontario and Ontario there will be a great deal of activity across Thunder Bay. Departments including the Thunder Bay, Kenora, Dryden, Fort Frances, Atikoken, Manitouwadge, Paipoonge, Pass Lake, Conmee, Oliver Paipoonge, Longbow Lake, Pellatt, McKenzie Clearwater Bay will be participating.

Various scenarios and training programs will be conducted in and around the city during the time frame of 8:00 and 4:30 p.m. on September 13th, 14th, 15th.

The following are a list of locations regarding these simulations and training:

1.) Travel Lodge Airlane – 467-7573 – Pumper Maintenance, Fire Scene Leadership, Fire Prevention/Public Education, Emergency Management;

2.) Stanley Fire Hall – 627-3271 – Pumper Operations;

3.) 750 Hammond Avenue, TBRPESTC – 631-7712 – Search & Rescue, Firefighter Survival, Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, Fire Scene Assessment with Live Fire;

4.) Lakehead Scrap Metal, Mission Island – 628-2327 – Vehicle Extrication;

5.) NorthCentral Fire Station, Water St., 627-8936 – Illicit Drug Lab Awareness;

6.) 1580 Arthur Street W., – 937-7425 – MNR Forest Fire Training.

Opening ceremonies will take place at the Travel Lodge Airlane on Thursday evening at 6:30PM.

As well, there will be a banquet on Saturday September 15th, 2012 being held at the Travel Lodge Airlane. Muscular dystrophy will be the recipient of this fundraising event.
