THUNDER BAY – The Northern Ontario School of Medicine is still seeking individuals or families willing to host delegates attending the Rendez-Vous 2012 World Conference being held October 9th – 14th. A significant part of the planning process for this Conference is recognizing the numerous low income countries who share our similar social accountability mandates, and how we can address financial barriers to attending Rendez-Vous 2012 for those who would not be able to attend otherwise.

Conference organizers are looking for host family accommodations in the Thunder Bay community to assist the physicians, students and faculty from these visiting countries. If you have a spare room and would be interested in participating as a host family for 4-5 days (October 9 – 14, 2012), please let us know. The conference participants will be busy each day attending various educational activities and site visits. Host families will simply provide sleeping accommodations. Some of the specific requests we have received are from such countries as Australia, Belgium, Botswana, Brazil, China, Columbia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Nepal, Philippines, Sudan, Sweden, South Africa, St. Kitts, Sudan, Uganda, Vietnam and Yemen.

This is an opportunity to connect with conference delegates from abroad, share stories and showcase living in our beautiful community of Thunder Bay. Please contact Cathy Powell at cpowell@nosm.ca (Host Family Coordinator) 807-766-7391 with your interest and any questions that you may have.

Many thanks,
Sue Berry
Rendez-Vous 2012 Co-Chair.
