THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – Thunder Bay Police report, “The 33 year old male accused of 2nd Degree Murder in the death of Adam Yellowhead made his first court appearance via video on Sunday. After further investigation, the accused is also facing another charge. The suspect, Joseph Wesley has also been charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm for an unrelated incident which occurred at approximately 9:00PM. on August 28, 2012.
In that incident it is alleged that Wesley was involved in an altercation with a thirty-two year old man on Eira Street near 11th Avenue. The victim in that incident was taken to hospital and later released.
It is alleged that the homicide occurred after the incident on Eira Street the evening of August 28, 2012.
Wesley remains in custody. His next court appearance will be September 6, 2012.
The stabbing incident on the east side of the city that happened on Saturday night, according to sources reporting to NetNewsledger.com could have become another murder. The twenty year old victim was stabbed four times, one wound narrowly missing his kidney. The victim remains in hospital. Police are continuing their investigation into the attack. Sources report that the man was attacked by as many as four assailants.
One of the overwhelming calls for service for police remain alcohol related calls. There have been 56 calls for service on drug or alcohol related offences on the south side of Thunder Bay. On the north side calls for service for alcohol related offences were almost identical at 52 calls for service.
