THUNDER BAY – (Updated) Thunder Bay Loonie Days for Disaster Relief. Those extra ‘Loonies’ in your pocket can make a difference this Labour Day weekend. You can show your support for those trying to recover from the flood disaster by donating to “Loonie Days for Disaster Relief”.

The following local businesses will be accepting your loonies through the long weekend.”

• all Metro Stores
• both Quality Markets
• Westfort Foods
• Skafs Just Basics
• George’s Market
• Old Navy
• Roots
• Chatters Salon and Beauty Supplies
• Superstore
• Walmart

Every dollar raised by the Thunder Bay and Area Disaster Relief Fund counts toward matched funding by the Province of Ontario, making $1 become $3. So if you are out shopping this Labour Day weekend support “Loonie Days for Disaster Relief” by donating a loonie or two.

You can also stop by Victoriaville and make larger donations. Local resident Fran Loney has started a Facebook Challenge asking people to donate $10. That effort has raised almost $1000 so far, and those dollars will be matched meaning almost $3000 has been raised.
