OPP Respond to airplane crash in Sioux Lookout

Ontario Provincial PoliceSIOUX LOOKOUT – On Sunday August 5, 2012 at approximately 2:00PM, the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to an airplane crash on Pelican Lake. A Cessna operated by Slate Falls Airways with a pilot and four passengers onboard crashed shortly after take-off from Pelican Lake on a sight-seeing flight over Sioux Lookout.

The rapid response by Emergency Services, citizens and Slate Falls Airways employees assisted in getting everyone to safety. All occupants of the aircraft sustained minor injuries and were treated and released from Meno Ya Win Health Centre. The Transportation Safety Board assisted by the Sioux Lookout detachment of the OPP is continuing the investigation.
