Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service executes drug warrant in Attawapiskat

NAPSATTAWAPISKAT – Crimebeat – On August 2, 2012, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit, Attawapiskat Detachment, Guns and Gangs, Criminal Intelligence and Emergency Response Team executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant in the community of Attawapiskat First Nation.

Police seized approximately one-thousand ($1,000.00) dollars worth of Marihuana, two-hundred eighty ($280.00) dollars worth of Oxycodone, various drug paraphernalia and three-thousand three-hundred ($3,300.00) dollars in Canadian currency.

Nineteen (19) year-old Erica Wheesk of Attawapiskat First Nation has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of the Proceeds of Crime, and Breach of Probation. Wheesk has been released on conditions and will next appear in court on October 17, 2012 in Attawapiskat, Ontario.

Twenty-one (21) year-old James Koosees of Attawapiskat First Nation has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of the Proceeds of Crime. Koosees has been held in custody with respect to outstanding warrants.

Charges are pending against another adult in the community in relation to this investigation.
