Ontario’s Strongest Man! Luke Skaarup

THUNDER BAY – Sports – Thunder Bay’s Strongest Man 2011 winner, Luke Skaarup, can now call himself Ontario’s Strongest Man! Skaarup competed this weekend against 20 of the best Strongmen Ontario had to offer and came out on top- Kyle Rayner, also from Thunder Bay took 2nd place in this challenge trailing by a meer 5 points.

Skaarup, is a mechanical engineer, and Union Gas district manager of Fort Frances. He has been training for this day for years and was able to celebrate his long awaited victory with his wife Nikki, and children Brayden, Gabby, Logan and Charlotte.

Some of the Strongman events were tire flip, Atlas stones and a yoke carry with Skaarup taking top placings in each event.

Skaarup and Rayner now have their sights set on Canada’s Strongest Man which will take place in just a few short weeks.

Other local strongmen that made it to provincials this weekend were Dallas Hogan, Eric Brady and Rob Gordon- Thunder Bay is proud of all of our athletes for making it this far and proving that Thunder Bay legitimately does have the Strongest Men in Ontario
