Vic Fedeli MPPTHUNDER BAY – Mining Now – Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is making his third visit to the Ring of Fire today – this time accompanying Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak, PC Northern Development Critic Norm Miller (Parry Sound-Muskoka), and PC Natural Resources Critic Laurie Scott (Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock).

“I want to see what progress has been made on the ground since my last visit in March,” said Fedeli. “I’m very concerned that this development is being mishandled by Dalton McGuinty and Rick Bartolucci”.

“The government’s made a lot of headlines talking about the Ring of Fire – I want to see what’s actually happening there,” added the MPP.

In March, Fedeli fulfilled an election promise by leading a group of regional mining leaders to the Ring of Fire to see what potential opportunities lie there. He made his first visit there last summer.

“This is a once-in-a-century mining find, and needs to be developed the right way and in consultation with Northern stakeholders and the First Nations,” commented Fedeli.

The Ring of Fire contains significant deposits of nickel and chromite, the latter of which is used in the making of stainless steel.
