THUNDER BAY – Food Now – Looking for something different and new in town? I suggest dropping into Churrasqueira Galo Inc on Red River Road, but you can simply call it Galo Inc.
Inside Galo Inc you will notice many Portuguese items that have been imported for us to purchase here in Thunder Bay.
The owner, Clara Sousa has a passion for cooking, and it shows in her authentic Portuguese dishes made from recipes handed down by her family for generations.
When you walk into Galo Inc, you are greeted by Clara or one of her family members, you can also see the Portuguese meals in the hot food showcase.
Clara also has a sample dish for people to try with some sort of Portuguese delights.
Clara cooks everything on site, and sells individual meals or entire dinners. Clara prepares all the fresh salads, fruit trays, bread and desserts daily.
Galo Inc offers pasteis de natas (cream tarts), caldo verde (green soup with Portuguese chourico) rissois de camrao (shrimp turnovers) and on occasion Malasadas (elephant ears).
Don’t be surprised when you see Polvo (Octopus) as it is one of the favourite dishes along with many fish items such as tuna, cod and other seafood dishes which include clams and shrimp. Some items are not on the everyday menu so its best to call to see what the specials of the day are.
My favourite was the Galo Sandwich, it comes on a Portuguese bun with beef and onions, mushroom and peppers, all mixed in a mild sauce, together this combination is fabulous, the portions were large enough to share.
Galo Inc also offers a variety of drinks and Portuguese espresso.
Galo Inc has ribs, chicken, rice, potatoes and fries for those not willing to be adventurous.
Galo Inc also caters so if you are interested, please contact Clara to discuss your future catering needs.
Galo Inc is a true genuine Portuguese take out place, if you have not tried it your missing out on this fantastic cuisine.
