THUNDER BAY – On Thursday June 7th at Birch Point Park, SHIFT hosted a unique outdoor event that focused on their environmental pillar.  Attendees enjoyed a barbecue in the park and helped with the greening and beautification of our city by lending a hand around Boulevard Lake. This event was proudly presented by Resolute Forest Products and Doug Murray, the General Manager of the Thunder Bay Division shared some insight with guests surrounding the topic of environmental consciousness.

It is evident that Resolute Forest Products is deeply commitment to protecting, managing and renewing the forest through responsible management. They are committed to responsible forestry and fiber sourcing, striving to improve environmental performances, conserving and maintaining biodiversity, using eco-efficient products and more.

Similar to Resolute, many other local businesses are making a conscious effort to reduce their environmental impact. The following businesses have helped sponsor the planting of the commemorative SHIFT Tree, provided watering assistance to the newly planted trees/shrubs at Birch Point Park and have taken the SHIFT Environmental Sustainability Pledge.

With the environment being one of SHIFT’s five pillars, SHIFT created their Environmental Sustainability Pledge in an attempt to promote environmental consciousness among the business community. The businesses that took the pledge have created several eco-friendly goals for their staff to implement to strive towards creating a sustainable future. SHIFT wants to encourage other businesses, big or small as well as individuals to reflect on their daily practices and make a conscious effort in lightening their environmental footprints.
