Highway 11-17 expected to be open by Friday

NNL-FloodandRecoveryTHUNDER BAY — The Ministry of Transportation wishes to advise drivers that the following highway closures remain in effect due to washouts:

  • Highway 11/17 is CLOSED between Highway 130 and Fraser Road
  • Highway 11/17 is CLOSED between Highway 590 and Highway 102
  • Highway 102 is OPEN and available for EAST-WEST THROUGH TRAFFIC.

A number of roads within Local Roads Board (LRB) areas have been affected as well.

Ware Local Roads Board

Silver Falls Road between Ellis Road and Shields Road is CLOSED. A detour is available via Highway 591, Gilbride Road and Shields Road.

Forbes River Road is CLOSED between Pit Road and Jaaska Road. A detour is available via Jaaska Road and Centre Road.

Safety is our top priority. MTO staff and contractors have assessed the damage at each location and repairs are underway.

Highway 11/17 is expected to be fully re-opened by Friday.
