THUNDER BAY – Editorial – The message of conserving water and not flushing toilets is apparently being mostly ignored by many residents in Thunder Bay. The City is saying that the large volumes of water being flushed into the system are causing problems. This might be a good opportunity to call three friends and do a shout-out in an old fashioned telephone tree manner to spread the word.
The information has been on Facebook and shared by all media sites as well as the City of Thunder Bay.
What is happening right now is the volume of water going down the drain is hampering relief efforts and the ability of residents with flooded basements to drain out their basements. It is also reportedly hampering the City of Thunder Bay’s efforts to pump out the Atlantic Avenue pumping station.
So if you call three friends, and share the news, and the call three friends to share the news, we could take that message out hopefully wide enough to make a difference.
Does that long shower really make sense when people’s homes are being flooded by your actions? That is a question for across the city to be asking.
Does that car wash really need to be open? Do you need to wash your driveway off as some in the city are apparently doing? Those are questions to be asking.
The option would be far less favourable. If consumption stays high, we are going to see drastic action imposed on the city just to make things happen.
