Ontario Ministry of TransportTHUNDER BAY — The Ministry of Transportation wishes to advise drivers that due to recent heavy rainfalls in the Thunder Bay area, Highway 11/17 is CLOSED to ALL THROUGH TRAFFIC between Highway 61 (Thunder Bay Expressway) and Highway 102 due to washouts in two locations.

Highway 102 is OPEN and available for EAST-WEST THROUGH TRAFFIC.

A number of roads within Local Roads Board (LRB) areas have been affected as well.

– Ware Township – Portage Creek Road is closed at the first bridge
– Dawson Road Lots – Aitken Road at Sunshine Loop is closed

Safety is our top priority. MTO staff and contractors are assessing the damage at each location
and repairs are underway. We will continue to monitor water levels throughout the area and
make necessary repairs.
