THUNDER BAY – There will be an update tomorrow morning at 10AM with Thunder Bay Mayor Hobbs and other City of Thunder Bay officials. Through the course of today, information has been coming forward at a solid pace.

In terms of the request from the city to conserve water and not flush toilets or run water down the drain, Mayor Hobbs shares, “The pumps are under water. The new pumps arrive tomorrow.”

So the City is seeking your patience overnight on not using a lot of water.

Across the city there are many stories, as yet mostly untold of people helping other people. The best of Thunder Bay had a chance to come out today, and has.

Tonight City Transportation is in the process of getting porta-potties delivered to the East End neighbourhood and other hard hit areas of the city. The area has been hit with flooding, and many homes have flooded basements and no power.

Laury Alexander from Mayor Hobbs office shares, “To all the people that are flood victims – make sure to de-energize the sections of your home that are flooded! Water can cause electrical fire! You could get electrocuted if your main breaker is flooded, do not attempt to go near it. Call Thunder Bay Hydro to turn the power off to your home.”

The status of the Atlantic Avenue pumping station is still flooded. Reports are that the pumpers have moved to that site to get it emptied of water.
