THUNDER BAY – The Lakehead Regional Conservative Authority continues the Flood Warning for the Lakehead Region including The City of Thunder Bay, Municipalities of Neebing, Oliver-Paipoonge, Shuniah, and the Townships of O’Connor, Conmee, Gillies, and Dorion.

Flooding is occuring in the Lakehead Region at this time, state the TRCA in a press release.

Many area watercourses are continuing to rise, particularily in the City of Thunder Bay and Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge. The Neebing River continues to rise at a rate of 15 centimetres per hour. Corbett Creek in the Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge has risen considerably in the last few hours, and continues to rise.

An additional 8 millimetres of precipitation of forecasted for today, with an additional 5-10 millimetres possible in thunder stormes.

The Neebing-McIntyre Floodway is diverting significant flow and will continue to divert over the next several days. The Floodway continues to have additional capacity to handle the anticipated increased flows.
