Mining NowAROLAND FIRST NATION – MAY 17, 2012: Chief Sonny Gagnon of Aroland First Nation has called for a peaceful demonstration at the end of Highway 643 on Friday May 18, 2012.

With concerns over Ring of Fire development and the environment, the Government of Ontario and Canada is under an international spotlight to address the problems. Violations of Constitutionally-protected Treaty rights pose a serious concern that has resulted in litigation and investor insecurity.
Pointing out Treaty and Constitutional rights, Chief Sonny Gagnon has repeatedly communicated concerns with the Cliffs Chromite Project Description and Comprehensive Environmental Assessment, while putting forward constructive solutions on how to move forward. Neither the Government nor industry has listened. Local community members and Elders will join Chief Sonny Gagnon.
