THUNDER BAY – Looking for a way to support a great local charity, and get a clean car out of the deal? Then mark your calendars for Saturday, May 19th, when the Sir Winston Churchill Shelter House Relay Team will be having a car wash at Oliver Road Rec Center. The event will start at 11am and go until 3pm, and it is by donation.
Shelter House is a fantastic organization to support; they have been working in our community since 1980, and have evolved from a very basic emergency shelter, to a full-service center, with daily meals, clothing assistance, temporary shelter, a day facility, and employment services.
The annual Shelter House Relay is a one-day event on June 2nd at Chippewa Park, and is one of Shelter House’s biggest fundraisers of the year. Despite its name, it’s actually not a relay. Instead it is a day full of fun events like karaoke contests, tug-of-war, scavenger hunts, and many more activities. Any business, organization, or schools can form a team, and leading up to the event, teams hold fundraisers.
