Thunder Bay Bowlers Win Medals at 2012 Youth Bowling Canada 5 Pin Championships

Mayor Hobbs and Kelsey DeGrazia May 1 2012THUNDER BAY – Sports – The bowlers from Thunder Bay are coming home with their suitcases just a little heavier. In St. John’s Newfoundland, at the 2012 Youth Bowling Canada 5 Pin Championships, Superior Bowladrome Junior Boys bowler Cody Gilhooly won silver. He was joined on the podium by Bantam Girls Competitor Kelsey DeGrazia who won Bronze in her category.

Degrazia, from the Galaxy Lanes, had a 12 game average of 182.82 and was at the National Championships for the second time. In 2011 she came in 9th overall with an average of 157.

Gilhooly won gold in 2008 in the Bantam Boys category. In 2012 as a Junior he had a 12 game average of 205.42.

Both Gilhooly and DeGrazia were representing Northern Ontario at the Championships.

Also representing Northern Ontario and Thunder Bay were the Superior Bowladrome Seniors Girls Team consisting of Ashley Bjorklund, Amanda Melanson, Devan Hook and Bailie Lachaine. They placed 5th with combined team average of 910.38 for 12 games.

The medals are being presented Monday night at 7:30PM Nfld time.
