OTTAWA – Leaders Ledger – AFN National Chief Shawn A-in-chut Atleo responds to the Federal Budget titled “Jobs, Growth and Long-term Prosperity”, which was tabled in the House of Commons on March 29, 2012. In this speech, the National Chief offers an insight into views from the Assembly of First Nations that the way forward must include the voices of the people, the youth and the elders.
The National Chief shares that “Rights are for liberty and action”.
Atleo comments that while the budget does not have everything sought, it has a promise from the government for sustainable funding for education. The National Chief salutes the efforts of youth in standing up and making sure their voices are heard.
