Thunder Bay Police Investigating Arson Fires

NNLCRIMEbeatTHUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – Thunder Bay Police are currently investigating three separate arson incidents that occurred on the morning of Sunday, March 18th, 2012. At 4:20AM on Sunday morning, officers attended at a residence in the 1200 block of Regina Street, and were advised by Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue that a garage at the location had been set on fire and arson was suspected. The garage of the adjoining property was also damaged.

Just before 5:00AM, officers attended a residence located on the 1200 block of John Street Road where a fully involved structural fire to the large shed at the rear of the property was being extinguished by Thunder Bay Fire and Rescue. This fire was also determined to be arson.

The third incident was reported around 10:30AM when emergency services were dispatched to another residence in the 1200 block of Regina Street for a garage fire. The garage and the 2 vehicles inside had extensive damage. arson is suspected.

Officers also responded to an attempt break and enter into a garage in the same vicinity during the same time period.

Various people were spoken to during the investigation and have identified a person of interest whom police would like to speak to.

The person is described as a Caucasian male approximately 20 years old with light coloured hair in a brush cut. He has a thin build and was wearing a blue and black checked bush jacket. He was observed hiding in a back yard of a residence and walking in a variety of driveways on Regina Ave at approximately 4:00AM on Sunday morning.

All of these incidents are currently under investigation. Anyone with information about these arsons or the identity of this male is asked to call the Thunder Bay Police at 684-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 623-8477 (623-TIPS).
