THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – The arrests in the past few days in connection with recent Mac’s store robberies underline the dedication of the members of the Thunder Bay Police Service. Our members and the community should be very proud of this service’s high clearance rate. In fact our service has had a higher clearance rate than the provincial and national average.
All of the members of the service have been working diligently to address the crime and safety issues facing the city. This police service has always been keenly aware that law enforcement and public safety go hand in hand. There work should not go unrecognized.
As a community we face ongoing challenges including the aftermath of substance use and addiction. Your police service has been working with community partners such as the Crime Prevention Council and Drug Strategy to address the underling causes of crime. At the same time, the members of the Thunder Bay Police Service make the responsibility of protecting our community their number one priority.
I’d like to thank the men and women of the Thunder Bay Police Service for their hard work, dedication and resolve to serve our community. As citizens, we should make a point of thanking them for being there 24 hours a day.
Joe Virdiramo – Chair of the Thunder Bay Police Services Board
