THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – On March 9th and 10th, 2012, the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Detachment and Drug Enforcement Unit members along with the Combined Forces Drug Enforcement Unit executed search warrants under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at two residences respectively located in Webequie First Nation and Deer Lake First Nation.
In Webequie, police seized fourteen thousand four-hundred ($14,400.00) dollars worth of Oxycodone, one thousand four-hundred ($1,400.00) dollars in Canadian currency, and several firearms.
Forty-one year-old Ricky Jacob has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking; Thirty-three year-old Valerie Shewaybick has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking; and Fifty-four (54) year-old Wesley Shewaybick has been charged with Careless Storage of a Firearm.
All three accused have been released on conditions and will next appear in court in Webequie, Ontario on June 15, 2012.
In Deer Lake, police seized forty-seven thousand five-hundred twenty ($47,520.00) dollars worth of Oxycodone 80 milligram pills along with one thousand three-hundred fifty ($1,350.00) dollars in Canadian currency. Twenty-four year-old Purvis Arthur Crowe has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Oxycodone and also Breach of Probation.
Crowe has been released on conditions and will next appear in court in Deer Lake, Ontario on April 16, 2012.
