THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – Thunder Bay Police report, “A 25 year old Thunder Bay man has been taken into custody for assault with a weapon and threats to kill”.
At approximately 12:39 a.m. Thunder Bay Police Service Officers responded to the Balsam Street area for an unknown problem, on arrivals officers were confronted by a lone male who attempted to strike the first officer with a shovel. The male suspect fled, and was located a short distance away by a second officer. Att that time the suspect produced a large edged weapon. and attempted to stab the officer. Thankfully he was not successful.
Officers were able to successfully deploy a conducted electrical weapon against the male. Both officers and the accused male were not injured.
The male has been taken to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, charges are pending.
