TBPS Targets Underage Drinking

Thunder Bay PoliceTHUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – The issue of underage consumption of alcohol was the target of the Thunder Bay Police Aboriginal Liaison Unit and Focused Enforcement Team who worked together to addresses youth alcohol issues in the Intercity area. Officers teamed up at the LCBO in the Thunder Center to conduct covert surveillance to monitor youth attempting to purchase alcohol.

The officers also focused on identifying individuals who are purchasing alcohol for minors and supplying it to them outside of the store.

The project resulted in the following results:

3 Provincial Offences Tickets for “persons under 19 years having liquor” and “consuming liquor in other than licenced premises, residence or private place”.

5 Part III Summons for “knowingly supplying liquor to persons under 19 years” and “persons under 19 years having liquor”.

1 Criminal Code charge for Theft under $5000.00

Liquor was seized in all of the related offences.
