THUNDER BAY – Crimebeat – Phishing is a constant online problem. Phishing is an attempt to collect your personal and private information from you. This weekend an email, pretending to be from Lakehead University arrived in the mailboxes of many here in Thunder Bay. It was reportedly from Lakehead University.
It is a phishing attempt.
Here is the text of this scam email:
Dear Lakeheadu.ca Webmail User,
This is to notify you that we will be upgrading the webmail database Servers from the old Servers (Nol06769) to the new Servers WEBMAIL BETA (No521766) within 24hours. You are therefore required to REPLY this message by re-confirming the details below to enable us upgrade and verify your webmail account from the old Servers to the new Servers .

Date Of Birth:…………………………………….
*Important!*: Account owner who do not re-confirm the above requested information after receiving this notification will have difficulties on accessing the webmail after our upgrade action.
